Dr Clara Menezes specialises in providing general medical care to babies, children, and young people up to 18 years of age. Her areas of special interest include developmental disorders, allergic disorders, and genetics and epigenetics of chronic conditions.

Dr Menezes has also specialist skills in forensic and child protection paediatrics.

Through her day-to-day work, she aims to provide early support and intervention, and continuity of care, for improved long-term outcomes. She enjoys getting to know the children and families she sees, and their environment, and provides the best care possible.

She also has a passion for indigenous health, offering wholistic care, taking into consideration social and cultural determinants of health.

Dr Menezes achieved her Bachelor of Science Bachelor of Medicine (MBBS) at Bangalore University in 1990 and followed this with a Diplomate of National Board in Paediatrics (DNB) in 1999.

She received her Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Paediatricians (FRACP) in 2010, Master of Public Health (MPH) at Monash University in 2014, and completed the Practical Medical Genomics course at UNSW in 2022.

Her training and work experience is broad and includes five years in remote missionary hospitals in India and two years as a Paediatric and Neonatal Fellow at the Sydney Children’s Hospital. Dr Menezes has also spent time in a range of specialist paediatric roles at the Royal Women’s Hospital, Monash Medical Centre, Royal Children’s Hospital, and Latrobe Regional Hospital in Victoria, and the Mackay Base Hospital in Queensland and The Tweed Hospital in NSW.

Dr Menezes is an active member of the RACP and clinical examiner and has previously been involved in the college written-exam committee. She also has a role in teaching medical students, this includes in a previous role as an educational coordinator for paediatrics at James Cook University.
