Food in clinics
To prevent contamination and risk to an allergic reaction, it is advised that parents do not bring snacks such as peanuts and other nuts into Paeds in a Pod.
Reactions can vary from mild to severe and even tiny amounts (called “trace” amounts) can trigger symptoms such as rashes, vomiting or even anaphylactic shock within highly sensitive children.
Anaphylaxis is a life-threatening response that can cause swelling in the throat, a sudden drop in blood pressure, blue lips, fainting and dizziness. Paeds in a Pod is a Nut Fee zone, parents are asked to avoid bringing in these snacks in to our rooms so as to make sure children who have a nut allergy are safe within the practice.
